Vocier is among the select few brands that cater to the specific needs of business travelers and fashion-conscious individuals, assuring that your clothing will arrive at your destination in impeccable condition. But that promise comes with a hefty price tag, which leads to the big question: is Vocier carry-on luggage worth it?

In this review, we’ll delve into the nitty-gritty of what makes their luggage so unique, and explore both the pros and cons of investing in this sleek and functional set.

By the end, you’ll have a better understanding of whether the Vocier CP38 is the ultimate combination of sleek style and functional convenience for your next business trip or special event.

In my view, the Vocier CP38 carry-on luggage set is worth every penny, particularly if you’re a frequent business traveller and/or someone who takes your travel wardrobe seriously. This suit carrier not only keeps your clothing wrinkle-free with no need for ironing, it also offers ample space for all your travel essentials, including shoes, toiletries, electronics, and more.

It does however come with a steep price tag. Compared to other alternatives, it is not the lightest luggage when empty (unless you remove the ‘suiter compartment’ – more on this later), and it may not always meet some airlines carry-on restrictions.

Still, the bag is constructed to withstand travel wear and tear, and it features a sleek, sophisticated design that radiates understated elegance, making it a timeless addition to your travel arsenal.

Vocier noticed that there was a gap in the luggage market for a suitcase specifically designed for business travelers who need to bring suits with them.

And they did just that with the CP38 carry-on luggage set.

While there are suitcases designed to transport suits, the uniqueness of the Vocier luggage lies in its patented Zero Crease’ System.

Instead of the traditional folding method where clothes are folded to fit into the luggage, the system bends the suit around the luggage frame in a U shape, eliminating tight corners and pressure, so suits emerge crisp and wrinkle-free.

To illustrate, both Briggs & Riley and TravelPro luggage include a garment folder with an anchor point for hangers that utilizes a trifold system. Each fold has some padding to prevent the suit from creasing, but the effectiveness of this feature is dependent on your packing skills.

However, Vocier’s zero crease system provides the ultimate suit-packing solution by enabling you to travel wrinkle-free with two suits, without the bulkiness that commonly occurs when using trifold garment folders. This is because the suits can be packed flat without folding.

The Vocier carry-on has another innovative component- a removable suiter compartment that serves two purposes.

Firstly, it gives you lots of space for organizing your travel essentials, and secondly, it contributes to the zero crease system through its curved edge that helps reduce pressure on your suits or dresses when used with the bag (you can read more about it here).

This set also comes with a Dopp amenity kit which is a toiletry bag that features a clear window on one side for effortless viewing of its contents. This feature not only helps you locate specific toiletries quickly but also proves convenient at airport security checkpoints.

Plus it features a sturdy telescopic handle and 2 wheels with steal bearings for effortless movement.

Vocier also offers this carry-on in different colors and sets.

You can choose from black, leather, grey, and even a 3-piece set that includes a wrinkle-free cabin suitcase, a business briefcase, and a Dopp Kit.

Overall, the Vocier carry-on is all about quality and class, and it delivers on both fronts.

Is Vocier Carry-on Luggage Worth It?: Vocier CP38 water-resistant test
Credit: travelccessories

You can expect the CP38 to still be going strong after a few years down the line.

This bag is made from a luxurious anthracite nylon exterior with black Italian leather straps and handles that exude both durability and elegance.

Though I generally prefer ballistic nylon like the type used in the Briggs & Riley Baseline Essential Carry-on for softside luggage, Vocier’s choice is also a great option for frequent flyers.

This is because the material is not only hardwearing, but also hides scuffs and scratches, and is even water-resistant

And let’s not forget about the polished silver PVD-coated metal fastenings and metal YKK zippers (allegedly the best zippers for bags) that add the perfect touch of sophistication.

On the Vocier website, it says the bag is ‘water-resistant’, but I have to admit, I was pretty anxious about subjecting my bag to the unpredictable elements. So, I concocted a little experiment. Armed with a trusty spray bottle, I made sure to focus on the zipper and seams, giving them a good drenching. The results were… well, not too shabby!

While my bag didn’t emerge unscathed because the zippers are exposed, it managed to hold its own and keep my belongings mostly dry. Of course, it’s not waterproof so I wouldn’t leave it out in the rain for long or go dropping it in a lake or anything crazy like that, but I felt reassured that my items would survive as long as I treated my bag with a little TLC.

If you’re after an even more luxurious finish, check out the Vocier F38, made with Italian leather. But keep in mind, it’s more likely to get scratched up during travel and weighs an extra kilo (costs more too, might I add).

Overall, you can rest assured that this bag is highly durable, and with some care, is highly likely to endure for a lifetime.

3. This carry-on can hold more than your suits

Not only can you fit up to two full suits or dresses in the Vocier CP38 suitcase, but they’ll stay wrinkle-free and ready to wear no matter how bumpy your ride may be.

Full disclosure: If you’re carrying an extra-large suit, you might have some trouble fitting it in this bag. And, I did notice a few minor wrinkles after I remove them from the suitcase, but hey, they weren’t anything that couldn’t be easily fixed.

But other than that, the ‘Zero Crease’ system really works.

And with that, I still had plenty of room for 3-4 days’ worth of clothes, plus my trusty Dopp kit and a pair of shoes.

Also, you can actually use the suitcase even when you’re not traveling with your suit. I find it exciting that I could remove the suiter compartment (which is kind of a packing cube) to make more space for other items, which means I can use the bag for any kind of travel, be it a weekend getaway or a week-long vacation.

Finally, let’s talk about interior pockets.

The bag comes with a Dopp Kit where you can store your toiletries.

And when you pull up the telescoping handle, you’ll see another pouch where you can stash passports and phones while you’re rolling through the airport.

This suitcase also has a sneaky little secret – a zipper cleverly disguised under one of the handles that leads to a deep section perfect for storing your Dopp Kit.

Plus, there are even extra compartments to stash your chargers and power banks.

4. The Vocier carry-on luggage comes with a lifetime warranty

If any defects arise in the wheels, handles, zippers, or other functional elements of your luggage due to manufacturing issues, Vocier will take care of it for you thanks to their limited lifetime warranty .

But wait, there’s more!

Vocier also offers a 100-day risk-free trial and free international shipping and returns on orders over $100 in the USA and EU.

So, not only can you test out your new luggage for over three months before committing, but you can also take advantage of free shipping and returns if it doesn’t meet your expectations.

5. The Vocier CP38 Carry-on luggage set is well-reviewed by users

Is Vocier Carry-on Luggage Worth It?: customer reviews

Even though I have used the Vocier CP38, and liked it, I might add, I also did some digging to find out what people really think of it. And guess what?

People are impressed by this bag.

The glowing reviews are about how this suit carrier not only keeps their clothing wrinkle-free with no need for ironing, but also offers ample space for all your travel essentials, including shoes, toiletries, electronics, and more.

They also like that it’s incredibly sleek and can withstand the wear and tear of travel because it’s built to last.

Helpful customer review: Just received my CP38 Luggage Set and it is just what I need for business trips. The carry-on fits two full suits in the zero-crease compartment and there is plenty of room left for a pair of shoes, jeans, a couple shirts, sweaters, t-shirts and underwear. Easy access to dopp kit is another great feature that is bound to come in handy. The only thing I would maybe add is an adjustable strap within the main compartment to keep your pair of shoes in place. Everything else is simply amazing. The materials, sleek appearance, ease of use. Highly recommended for the business traveler!

That said, there are a couple of things that pop up repeatedly in reviews.

Some folks are surprised at how heavy the CP38 is – something to keep in mind if you’re looking for something super lightweight.

Another concern is that it might not fit the carry-on dimensions for regional airlines in the US, so double-check your airline’s requirements before you hit the airport.

Joe, one of the users of this bag says: “Hardly the break-through bag I was hoping for. Heavier than expected as well. I have very broad shoulders and the bag is less than optimum for my suit. Otherwise, well made and I will look forward to some travel with it.”

Now, I do want to point out that there aren’t a ton of reviews out there just yet, but the ones that do exist can be found on the manufacturer’s website or on sites like Judge.me Marketplace.

What we don’t like…

Based on my personal experience and the reviews I’ve perused, I will outline the aspects of the Vocier carry-on luggage that have left me dissatisfied.

Let’s get into it.

1. This Vocier carry-on is heavier than expected

Is Vocier Carry-on Luggage Worth It?: Vocier carry-on vs Travelpro Platinum Carry-on

The main concern users have raised about the Vocier CP38 carry-on luggage is its weight. Honestly, I agree with them.

When I first picked up the CP38, I was surprised by how heavy it felt – 9 pounds (that’s 4.1 kilograms) when empty! In comparison, the Travelpro 21” Platinum Elite Carry-On which also comes with a suiter to keep your garment wrinkle-free weighs just 7.8 lbs.

And when you start filling up the luggage to its full capacity, the weight could become an issue.

Is Vocier Carry-on Luggage Worth It?: Vocier carry-on internal storage

Having said that, I was able to reduce the weight of the bag by removing the suiter compartment.

After removing the compartment from the bag, as depicted in the image above, I noticed a reduction in the weight. However, you should note that this might compromise the zero-crease system’s effectiveness in keeping your suit wrinkle-free. I would provide an update at a later point when I travel without the suiter compartment.

Let’s be honest, the Vocier CP38 carry-on luggage is not the most budget-friendly option out there.

While it’s true that the bag falls into the mid-priced category in the luxury luggage space, it’s still quite pricey compared to other options on the market.

For instance, this bag is more expensive than the Travelpro Platinum Elite Expandable Carry-On, the Swissgear 6590 Garment Carry On Luggage and even the Baseline Essential Carry-on from Briggs & Riley.

However, what sets the CP38 apart from its competitors is its attention to detail and its focus on keeping your suits wrinkle-free, even better than the options above.

So, if you’re willing to invest a little extra for a piece of luggage that will keep your business attire looking sharp, then the Vocier CP38 is definitely worth considering.

After all, a well-dressed traveler is a confident traveler, and confidence is priceless, right?

3. The CP38 may not always meet carry-on dimensions

Most airlines have a standard carry-on size of 22” x 14” x 9” (56 x 36 x 23 cm) to make sure everyone’s bags fit in the overhead bin without causing a fuss.

Now, the Vocier CP38 carry-on luggage measures 55 x 40 x 20 cm (LWH), which means that for primarily US travelers, the width could be a problem, especially if you fly with regional jets.

John S, one of the owners of the Vocier carry-on shared this sentiment: “Dimensions – As a primarily US traveler, the dimensions are problematic for me from a width perspective – it doesnt fit in regional jets, and many of the mainline jets (…) so I have to lay it on its side. What about creating a US version that is deeper and narrower (trade off of dimension)”

Even though that’s the only review I have seen of someone saying this bag doesn’t fit in the overhead bin, you should verify with your airline so there are no surprises when it comes time to board!

Vocier Carry-on Luggage CP38 vs C38 vs the F38

Is Vocier Carry-on Luggage Worth It?: Vocier CP38 vs C38 vs F38
Credit: vocier.com

The Vocier Carry-on Luggage line from the German brand are designed to make traveling with your suits as stress-free as possible. But which one is right for you: the CP38, C38, or F38?

Well, let me break it down for you.

First off, let’s talk about the CP38 and C38. These two are practically twins in terms of function and features.

The only real difference is their color – the CP38 comes in a sleek grey, while the C38 is all black. Oh, and the CP38 is a smidge heavier, weighing in at 9 pounds compared to the C38’s 8.6 pounds. But really, it’s just a matter of personal preference.

Now, the F38 is another story. This suitcase is made entirely of Italian leather, so you know it’s going to be heavy. We’re talking 10.8 pounds, people.

But if you’re a fan of the classic, luxurious look and feel of leather, then this might be the one for you. Just keep in mind that it’s also the most expensive of the three options.

But aside from the material, the features and functions of all three bags are pretty similar. So ultimately, it just comes down to what you value most in a carry-on – style, weight, or material.

Alternative to consider: Briggs & Riley Baseline Essential Carry-on

Is Vocier Carry-on Luggage Worth It?: Briggs & Riley Baseline Essential Carry-on

The Essential Carry-on suitcase from Briggs & Riley is a great alternative for savvy business travelers who want to keep their suits wrinkle-free while on the move.

Like the CP38, it can easily hold 1-2 suits wrinkle-free inside its built-in tri-fold garment folder, so nothing gets creased or wrinkled after traveling all over town!

But that’s where the similarity ends.

The Essential Carry-on’s patented CX expansion-compression system allows you to increase the bag’s storage capacity by up to 25% when needed, providing more room for additional items. In comparison, the Vocier CP38 Carry-On does not have an expansion feature, which limits its flexibility for travelers who need extra space.

When it comes to features, the Baseline outshines the Vocier CP38.

It has a power bank pocket, a hide-away ID tag, a TSA lock, and four spinner wheels for easy maneuverability. And it measures 22 x 14 x 9 inches – the perfect size for airline travel and short trips.

Plus this carry-on is made from durable ballistic nylon, and the stellar reputation that’s associated with the Briggs and Riley brand and its lifetime warranty means this luggage is incredibly durable and is worth your investment.

  2. Wow, Femi, this is a great review of the Voicer CP38 carry-on luggage set!
You outline very good aspects and features of this suitcase.
A very good breakdown, super images to see how the product looks, reviews, and the practicality of this well-designed case.
A brilliant product for any busy traveler to invest in, and as you say it may be expensive, but worth it just to have the conveniences it has to offer.
I like the fact that it is versatile, creaseproof, and waterproof, especially for unpredictable weather!
I also like how you tested the waterproof bit yourself, proving a point in this area which is an important, feature for some.
Sustainability, and the use of recyclable materials, are a plus in my books!
I like the 100 days risk-free trial and limited lifetime warranty! (although I would have thought more unlimited?)
What is there not to like, it’s a cool-looking suitcase and you get quality too!
The only downside as you mention is the weight, but you do offer alternatives.
All in all great job, thanks for your in-depth sharing!
    Happy holidays.
    Julia.

  3. Hi Femi,

Vocier seem like a really good brand of luggage but I don’t believe they are as good as some of the others you have promoted on your site.

They seem pretty basic, but they will do the job for people definitely.

Keep up the great work and keep seeking out new luggage that will help others.

    All the best,

    Tom

  4. Great review, Wole Femi Asaolu! Your in-depth analysis of the Vocier CP38 carry-on luggage is incredibly informative. I appreciate the balanced perspective you’ve provided, highlighting both the pros and cons. The ‘Zero Crease’ system is particularly intriguing for someone like me who travels frequently for business and wants to look sharp upon arrival.

However, the weight of the luggage is a concern, especially for those of us who might be hopping on regional flights with stricter carry-on limitations. It’s good to know that there are ways to reduce the weight by removing the suiter compartment, but that could compromise the very feature that makes this luggage unique.

Your comparison with other brands like Briggs & Riley also adds value to the review. It’s always good to have options and understand how they stack up against each other.

All in all, your review has given me a lot to consider before making an investment in a new carry-on. Thanks for the thorough breakdown!
