Pros
- Incredibly affordable
Lucas luggage is proof that everyone can own relatively good luggage at affordable prices.
- Lightweight
This is one of the brand’s core selling point, enabling you travel super light and hassle free.
- Their luggage is expandable
You can get up to 25% luggage expansion for additional packing space
- Good designs
From the practical models to the more colourful Lucas Printed Softside Spinner, there’s something for everyone.
Cons
- Not for frequent travelers.
While Lucas luggage is functional for semi-frequent and leisure travels, they cannot meet the demands of frequent travels.
- Lack of TSA- approved Locks
Most of their suitcases do not come with TSA locks; this is such a bummer, especially as they are so affordable.
- Potential durability issues
Their soft-sided suitcases are made with polyester and their hardshell from ABS. Not quite as durable when compared to brands made with nylon and polycarbonate material.
- Quite stressful to claim a warranty
The 5-year warranty only covers manufacturing faults, and usually following a tedious claim process.

The Lucas Brand in a Snapshot
While there is no official ‘Lucas Luggage’ website, the brand is associated with a New Jersey company known as 24-7 International. Also associated with the mother company is Andiamo, Ciao, and Pathfinder luggage, of which Lucas is a part of.
The company sells its products in wholesale to major retailers not directly to customers.
Lucas is best known for manufacturing significantly lightweight but expandable suitcases. Their products are reliable and sturdy enough but are not built for frequent travels due to materials used- Polyester for softside and ABS for hardside.
Lucas luggage is more affordable than many popular brands, and has been around for years now. The fact that most of their customers are return customers, is a testament to the quality of their products.
Lucas Luggage are comparable with IT Luggage, a brand also known for making lightweight products. The Lucas brand products include softshell luggage, hardshell, carry-ons, duffel bags, underseat bags amongst others.

Lucas Ultra Lightweight Luggage
It’s easy to fall in love with the Lucas Ultra Lightweight. This luggage is lightweight, easy on your wallet, and spacious!
They aren’t kidding about their ultra-lightweight claim—their carry-on weighs just 5.8 lbs! Compared to the American Touister Belle Voyage 21” Spinner, which weighs 7.8 lbs, the Lucas Ultra Lightweight carry-on makes traveling on an airline with a carry-on weight restriction a breeze!
Have I mentioned that the luggage is expandable too? These bags offer 20% more packing capacity than their competition. This is thoughtful especially if like me, you tend to overpack now and then.
The exterior features two pockets so you can keep your travel documents and other go-to necessities organized and easy to reach. The inside of the bag is fully lined and features elastic straps to keep your clothing items in place.
It has two sections: a large compartment with straps and a smaller, zippered mesh compartment. The spacious compartment on one side can store your clothes, shoes, and bigger items. In the opposite zippered compartment, there’s a mesh pocket with two smaller interior pockets. You can store smaller loose items here.
So, what are the downsides?
The biggest drawback of this luggage is the fact that it’s made with polyester. Polyester is cheap and not as durable as nylon for soft luggage. It’s susceptible to ripping and tearing over time. As a result, it can’t hold up to heavy use.
In addition, some users have complained about the zipper quality. According to reviews, it has the annoying tendency to get stuck and, worse, break completely.
But it’s not all bad.
The double spinner wheels are a great feature. They are durable and roll more smoothly than regular ones, which makes navigating through crowded areas a total breeze. Other impressive features include a telescopic wheel handle that can adjust to 3 heights. The handles are comfortable, especially when you need to carry the luggage.
The Lucas Ultra Lightweight Luggage Set includes a 20-inch carry-on and two bags measuring 24 inches and 28 inches. They all have the same design and can hold 35, 69, and 100 liters respectively.
You can buy them as a three-piece set or individually. While it won’t last you for many years, this luggage set is a good investment due to its storage capacity and affordable price tag.
Pros
- Ultra-lightweight to avoid airline fees
- Affordable
- Easy to wheel around
- Compact design
- Expandable for extra packing space
- Carry-on can fit airline compartment
Cons
- Not durable for frequent travel
- Polyester material not as durable as nylon
- Zipper gets damaged
- No side handles
- Limited packing options
Lucas Luggage Treadlite
If you’re looking for a sturdy bag that can hold up to the abuse that checked bags go through, the Lucas Treadlite luggage set could be the one for you!
This Lucas luggage review will tell you everything you need to know. The case features a ribbed, scratch resistant shell (ABS) to protect it from minor impacts.
While the bag is lightweight due to its ABS shell, it is not as durable for a hard suitcase. Polycarbonate is sturdier, but also more expensive. The suitcase boasts handles made from aircraft-grade aluminum designed to withstand shock absorption.
With its spacious interior and expandable capacity, this is a darn good suitcase.
At 21.8 x 13.5 x 9 inches, the carry-on is sizable enough to hold up to a week’s travel items. The interior is very roomy and has two spacious compartments with zippered pockets for organization.
The bottom compartment can be used to store your clothes, featuring elastic tie-down straps to neatly secure your items. Despite the advantages of the luggage, the handles are not adjustable to accommodate different heights. In fact, some users have complained that the wheel handles aren’t very sturdy.
In addition to that, this luggage has no TSA lock—or any lock, for that matter!
This is a big disadvantage as there’s no way to know if your valuables are safe, especially in your checked luggage. Nevertheless, you can easily buy a lock yourself to solve this problem.
The suitcase boasts a telescope handle and multi-directional spinner wheels (they rotate a full 360-degrees) that you can steer smoothly through cramped spaces and tiny airplane aisles.
With a shiny metallic finish, the hard-shell case also comes in four vibrant color options including burgundy, charcoal, purple, and steel blue. With colors like these, it will be easy to spot your case in a crowd.
The Treadlite collection comes in three sizes – a 20″ carry-on, and 24″ and 28″ checked suitcases. Depending on your packing needs, you can buy them individually or even get the whole collection at a value price.
Pros
- Tough and durable
- Expandable storage space
- Scratch-resistant surface
- Spinner wheels for smooth mobility
- Very light
- Affordable price
- Telescopic handle
Cons
- No TSA lock
- There are reports that the handles are not that strong
- No side or bottom handles to lift the suitcase
Lucas Luggage Outlander
The Outlander collection and the Treadlite collection are similar in features and function, but the Outlander collection is more trusted to weather the demands of airline travel. This Lucas luggage review will examine the differences in detail.
A notable difference is that the Outlander collection is bigger and lighter than the Treadlite. It stands apart because of its durability and design. This is a suitcase you can trust if you are a frequent traveler.
The exterior is not made with the superior polycarbonate material, but its sturdy ABS plastic is well-built to survive severe shocks, bumps, and impacts. Its luggage stress points are well guarded, making it resistant to scratches and scuffs.
The lined interior is made with polyester and has two spacious packing compartments with plenty of pockets.
In the top compartment, you can use the zippered divider and mesh pockets to store your shoes, documents, and other items.
In the bottom compartment, you can use the cross strap to compress and secure your clothing. This compartment also features pockets to organize your items neatly.
Also, the luggage is expandable by two inches, so you can add more items if you tend to come back with more items than you left with.
It comes with spinner wheels that can rotate in any direction, a telescopic aluminum handle that can be locked into place, and sturdy top and side carry handles.
Regrettably, this luggage doesn’t come with any locks. You’ll have to provide your own lock for travel.
Another downside is the suitcase doesn’t have any pockets on its exterior. If you need any item, no matter how small or urgent, you’ll have to unzip the entire bag.
The collection comes in three sizes – a 20” carry on, a 24” checked bag and a 28” checked bag. The bags can also fit inside of each other for compact storage.
Better yet, its sleek and smooth design is easy on the eyes, with stylish color options like Graphite, Blue, Burgundy, and Purple.
The Outlander is a solid option due to its durability and affordable price.
Pros
- Tough and durable
- Scratch-resistant surface
- Good expandable storage space
- Spinner wheels for smooth mobility
- Very lightweight
- Affordable
- Telescopic handle
Cons
- No TSA lock
- There are reports that the handles are not that strong
- No side or bottom handles to lift the suitcase
Lucas Luggage Hardside Expandable Spinner
The Lucas Luggage Hardside Expandable Spinner collection has a composite shell – 90% ABS and 10% Polycarbonate for added protection. Not surprisingly, this luggage set is extra durable and lightweight compared to other lightweight suitcases.
In this Lucas luggage review, we will explore the Hardside Expandable Spinner collection in detail.
This set features 18 different color styles for the carry-on alone—everything from fun colors like ‘Tivoli Blue’ to subdued colors like ‘Avalon Black.’ Although the 24”, 27” and 31” come in limited colors, you are bound to find something that appeals to you.
The collections include Allure, Cosmo, Stratus, Avalon, and Genesis.
They share similar features; the slight differences are only emphasized in the color of the lining, design, and color of the shell.
The set sizes include a 20-inch carry-on and 24, 27, and 31-inch sizes which can also be purchased separately.
The carry-on is lightweight and offers 36 liters of packing space. This allows you to avoid extra airline fees and pack more items for your flight. Yay!
If you think a carry-on isn’t enough, you can use the medium or large size as a checked bag. Each of these sizes is expandable, even with their spacious packing space.
Unlike other Lucas Luggage sets, the spinner wheel of the Hard Side Expandable suitcase is attached to the body of the suitcase. This make the wheels considerably stronger.
Regrettably, there is still no TSA lock included. You’ll have to provide one yourself.
Thanks to the two generous packing compartments and expansion zipper, you can fit all the essentials for your trip. There’s a large compartment with compression straps for your clothes, a small zippered pouch, a compartment for your shoes, and a large mesh pocket for organization.
This set features two comfortable carry handles and users have complimented the strength of the zippers.
Additionally, these bags have an aircraft-grade aluminum telescopic handle which is lightweight and sturdy as well as guarded corners to protect your bag.
From the slick scratch-resistant finish to its rugged Polycarbonate and ABS hard-shell exterior and molded corner guard reinforcements, this lightweight, well-built piece of luggage is both durable and stylish.
Pros
- Durable and stylish
- Lot of options
- Lightweight
- Easy mobility
Cons
- Lacks TSA lock
Lucas Luggage Patterned Softside Lightweight Expandable Suitcase (Diva)
The Lucas Luggage Patterned Softside Lightweight Expandable Suitcase Set isn’t just fashion-forward—it also offers considerable packing space on wheels and so much more! In this Lucas luggage review, we’ll take a look at the many features of this set.
Besides its beautiful prints, it is durable and well-made. It is lightweight and compact enough to be flexible for short and long trips.
Additionally, this soft-shell carry-on bag can squeeze into overhead compartments and therefore helps you avoid those extra airline fees. The bag is spacious and expandable by 20%, allowing you to travel with all the essentials.
Inside the bag, you’ll find two fully-lined compartments. The carry-on’s large central compartment gives you 35 liters of space to stock 3-4 days’ clothes. The small zippered compartment is designed for your toiletries, cosmetics, and smaller items.
This bag features two front pockets on the exterior for easy access to your documents and small items. If you need more packing space, you can opt for the medium or large suitcase in the collection.
This suitcase features 8 spinner wheels that roll 360-degrees even in tough terrain and a telescopic handle that can adjust to three heights.
The handle of the bag is made from aluminum, a durable material that protects it from breaking or bending, and it features ultra-comfy carry grips.
According to reviews, the zippers are durable and won’t snag or get stuck easily.
This bag does have drawbacks, however.
While it can withstand minor scratches and bumps during flight or when in use, it would fold under major impacts and cuts. You might want to steer clear of sharp objects. It isn’t the most durable option for frequent travel or heavy-duty use.
In addition, it doesn’t come with a TSA lock. You’ll have to provide your own.
It is available as a set of 20″, 24″, and 28″ suitcases and you can get it in different sizes either alone or as a set. This set allows you to travel with style and ease!

Cons
- Not the most durable luggage
- Looks more casual
Lucas Designer 22 Inch Rolling Carry On Duffel
For short trips, you need a cabin bag that is lightweight and easy to maneuver.
To avoid any nasty surprises in those small airline aisles, stay safe and go with the Lucas Designer 22 Inch Rolling Carry-on Duffel.
This Lucas Luggage review will tell you everything you need to know!
This softside duffel bag can collapse a bit to fit more easily into tight spaces, making it ideal for domestic and international travel.
This rolling duffel bag also have more convenient features including a comfortable handle that make it easy to carry around, even when fully packed.
The lightweight construction means you won’t have any trouble adhering to airline weight restrictions, and the two smooth rolling spinner wheels make transportation a breeze.
The top zip closure keeps all of your belongings securely in place, while the front zip pocket is perfect for storing smaller items that you need quick access to.
Plus, the stylish design is sure to turn heads wherever you go.
And you get to make a selection from 9 beautfiful colors.
But what about its shortcomings?
You should keep in mind that you can only use this carry-on duffel in the overhead compartment, and not as an underseat bag because it is a little too long and sticks out a bit. Having it under the seat in front of you would make for a cramped leg room and overall discomfort.
Also, this is not the most durable bag.
Especially when packed full with stuff or with frequent use, some buyers complained about broken zippers, flimsy material, and about how the bag tilts constantly due to the wheels.
Overall, the Lucas Wheeled duffel bag is designed to be very versatile such that you can use it as a gym bag, sports bag, overnight bag, weekend getaway bag, or even as an airplane carry-on.
Pros
- Affordable
- Stylish
- Lightweight to be used as a carry-on
- Rolling wheels
- Versatile for different uses
- lots of color options
Cons
- Zippers are a little fragile
- Too big to be used as an underseat bag
- Not very durable
- 2-year warranty limited to manufacturer’s defects.
Lucas Wheeled 15-Inch Expandable Underseat Cabin Bag
If you want to save some money on carry-on fees and enjoy spacious compartments in a compact solution on your next flight, the Lucas 15-inch underseat cabin bag is for you.
I featured it in this Lucas Luggage review simply because it’s an organizer’s dream bag! This bag can literally double in storage capacity and is really affordable!
Also, there are many compartments and pockets that make it super easy for you to store everything nicely and access your stuffs very easily. No need rummaging for items as they are arranged in individual compartments.
And when you do place the bag under your flight seat, you won’t have to worry about scratches and roughing impacts, thanks to it durable exterior.
Its ample space is one of its most defining qualities.
The bag is a soft side bag which makes it easy for you to cram a bit more items into it. You can use your bag either as an underseat suitcase or as a carry-on; the bag can expand to approximately 50 liters when you convert it into a 22-inch full sized carry-on.
When it is expanded, you can use the telescopic handles to comfortably grab the bag around. And there’s the top haul handle that you can use to lift your bag onto overhead bins on the plane. Unlike the Lucas 16-Inch carry-on luggage, this bag comes with a USB port on the side and a compartment for your tablet.
The bag comes with two standing legs to keep the bag erect when in resting position, and with back in-line skate wheels so that the suitcase can be pulled along behind you.
So what are the drawbacks?
The back in-line skate wheels is a disadvantage because you can’t maneuverer it multiple directions like underseat bags such as the Samsonite Flexis Underseater Carry-on Spinner which can be wheeled in 360 degrees.
But it is not a deal breaker since in-line skate wheels are made from polypropylene which makes it more durable even than some multidirectional wheels. The zippers are made from aluminium, meaning they aren’t as strong and can be prone to breaking if care is not taken.
With that being said, other features still makes this bag endearing – like how the long handle can be locked into three heights, making it suitable for an adult as well as youngsters.
Overall, consumers like this bag, especially over-packers! In the end, the Lucas Expandable Under Seat 15-Inch Carry-on Luggage is an ideal choice if you are looking to travel with only one bag.
Pros
- 5-year warranty
- Ample storage
- Strong handle
Cons
- No Spinner wheels
- A bit on the heavier side
Final Thought
For good travel accessories that looks great, have basic organizational features, and reasonable prices, the Lucas Luggage is a worthwhile option. Plus, their luggage is very lightweight and affordable (similar to IT and Travelpro).
If you don’t use your luggage regularly and you don’t need all the bells and whistles —Lucas Luggage offers good value and lots of options to choose from.

Great information, thank you. I have never heard about the Lucas luggage brand, but it seems like it would be a good one if you want to travel light and maybe use it for car rides and such. As a frequent flyer, I would probably go with something more durable. One question though, is there TSA locks that you could add to this luggage, like portable ones?
Hey Veronica,
Thanks for stopping by to leave a comment.
For sure, there are lots of TSA locks you can use since the suitcase zippers have holes for padlocks.
Cheers

Wow! I never knew there was so much to write about suitcases! Thanks for this insightful piece on the Lucas Luggage. Very interesting!
Hey Jonathan,

I really like Lucas Luggage. It’s a perfect bag to travel with it holds as much as you would ever need. Wheels are sturdy, and can be easily maneuvered without noise.
I bought the Lucas Wheeled Under the Seat Cabin Bag and it works perfectly for me. I can fit it in under any seat in every type of airplane and I can comfortably say that it’s a must have (especially if you’re a frequent short relation traveler)
Thanks Wole, I loved your post!
Hey Gorjan,
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Cheers

How do I return luggage that did not withstand trip
Hey Celia,
That’s a shame. Where did you buy your luggage? And what brand is it?
not very good bags.. mine did not last two trips the wheel broke and got dented…The worst part is there customer service… after suppling them with all the info the asked, they said sorry we can refund you did not purchase it from us…
I’m truly sorry to hear about the issues you’ve faced with your Lucas Luggage, and I understand your frustration. It’s certainly disappointing when a bag doesn’t meet expectations, especially when it impacts your travels.
As I mentioned in my review, Lucas Luggage is not the most durable option, particularly with frequent use. Unfortunately, affordable bags like these can sometimes have limitations, and not everyone is fortunate enough to have a trouble-free experience.
If you decide to explore other luggage options in the future, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need recommendations or advice. Safe travels!
