14 best luggage sets 2023

Best luggage sets (2-piece set)

In this section, I will exclusively focus on reviewing 2-piece luggage sets, which typically consist of a carry-on bag along with a medium or large checked bag.

Amazon Basics 2-Piece Luggage Set

Best Luggage sets: Amazon Basics 2-Piece Luggage Set

With more than 31,000 five-star reviews, this Amazon Basics suitcase is a fan favorite. It is one of the best hard sided luggage that is not only reliable but also budget-friendly. You can snag these 2 suitcases for under $180!

While it may not be the highest quality luggage set on the market, it has gotten lots of praise from many customers and reviewers. For example, Carissa Rawson from ThePointsGuy, who has personally tested this bag on around 10 trips has been pleasantly surprised by its performance as both a carry-on and checked bag.

Made of durable but lightweight ABS material, you can bet that these bags are durable enough to keep your belongings safe while still looking good!

What we also like

The set includes two suitcases of different sizes, catering to both overnight trips and month-long trips. Inside each suitcase, you’ll find a fully lined interior with dividers, keeping your clothes organized and secure. There are also three interior pockets for conveniently storing smaller items such as toiletries, jewelry, or electronics.

Another thing is that these suitcases can be expanded by up to 15% if you need extra packing space. This ensures that you can bring along all your favorite souvenirs without any worries about leaving them behind.

What we don’t like

As is common with most cheap luggage options, the Amazon Basics luggage is not as sturdy as premium choices such as the Away luggage, and it can get damaged if not handled carefully.

While there are users who have managed to use this bag successfully for five years or more, there are also customers who haven’t been so lucky. They reported issues like broken handles, damaged wheels, and the bag not holding up well during rough handling as checked luggage. So, I don’t think you should expect this bag to last for many years of use, as the chances of that happening are probably low.

LEVEL8 Textured Luggage 2 Piece Set (20″ & 24″)

Best luggage sets: Level8 Textured Luggage Set 20'' & 24''

The tough German Bayer Makrolon polycarbonate hardshell exterior speaks for itself – this luggage set is durable and can handle the demands of travel without a problem.

I have used the carry-on bag myself and thanks to its quality construction, I am confident it will survive many long trips and many more in the future. The Flash Packing Family also tested the luggage set and in their review, they said they traveled with the carry-on and checked the larger case, and they were really surprised to see that “there is very little sign of wear and tear”.

Reviewers have mentioned that the multi-directional spinner wheels are smooth and reliable, even on the cobblestones of Paris. Additionally, each piece of luggage features a strong telescoping handle and a built-in TSA locks to keep your valuable belongings safe.

What we also like

This is one of the best luggage sets that’s easy to load up. Check this out: The 20″ carry-on has a big space of 40 liters for your belongings, and the larger 24″ suitcase can hold an impressive 65 liters.

Both bags have two large compartments for clothes and two smaller zipper pockets for your smaller items. On the Level8 website, many customers have been happy with how much space these suitcases provide. In fact, one traveler was able to fit two pairs of shoes and nearly 10-12 days’ worth of clothing inside one of them.

What we don’t  like

Based on the reviews I’ve read, some customers have complained about the zippers and handle quality of this luggage set. They also mentioned that the exterior of the suitcase easily gets scratched even from small things, and these scratches are noticeable. And considering that this set is priced in the mid-range and may is not the most affordable luggage set, I believe it’s essential to consider these factors before buying.

July Carry On & Checked Set

Best Luggage Sets: July Family Luggage Set

I highly recommend the July luggage set for women who want to travel comfortably and in style. The set includes a carry-on and a checked suitcase, and the best part is that you can choose different colors for each piece.

The durable and water-resistant German polycarbonate shell, combined with the aluminum bumpers, ensures that your belongings stay safe from any harm or spills. Rest assured, this durable luggage set is built to take any punishment your journey throws at it, and then some!

What we also like

The July luggage set features a simple design that makes packing and fitting a large number of items effortless. The 42-liter carry-on is an ideal size for quick business meetings, weekend trips, or when you prefer to travel light. On the other hand, the larger 80-liter luggage is perfect for trips lasting between 1 to 2 weeks.

The combined storage space of the set is an impressive 122 liters. Inside these spacious suitcases, you’ll find a laundry bag and a Y-strap compression system, allowing you to pack more items in a compact manner. As a bonus, the interior lining is both water-resistant and stain-proof.

What we don’t like

The cost of the July luggage set may just be a little too much money for some people. Also, you may want to steer clear of the brightly colored options as scratches tend to be more visible on them. Opting for darker shades would be a better choice in terms of minimizing the visibility of scratches.

Travelpro Luggage Maxlite 5 luggage set

Best Luggage Sets: Travelpro Luggage Maxlite 5 luggage set

Weighing only 5.4 lbs and 1.6 lbs respectively, both the suitcase and tote bag in this set are incredibly lightweight.

They are designed to meet carry-on size requirements, which means you can use either one as your carry-on or personal item when you fly — a definite bonus when you’re trying to avoid those pesky airline baggage fees.

Convenience is also a big selling point for these bags. The carry-on suitcase has smooth-rolling spinner wheels, making it easy to move around. The tote bag has a trolley sleeve, so you can slip it onto your rolling luggage for hands-free transportation.

And there’s more! These Travelpro bags are built to last with durable and water-resistant materials, they come in a variety of colors to suit your style. It’s hard not to love these bags!

What we also like

The suitcase is already spacious, but the best part is that it can be expanded to fit even more inside. And don’t forget about the tote bag!

It’s perfect for keeping your toiletries and souvenirs from your trips organized and easily accessible. You won’t have to worry about leaving anything behind.

What we don’t like

Simply because there’s no such thing as a perfect bag, a common complaint regarding the Travelpro Maxlite is the strong chemical odor that takes a while to go off, which may be a dealbreaker for some.

According to an Amazon reviewer, the smell lingered even after leaving the bags outside to air for a whole day and then storing them in the garage for three days. However, apart from this issue, I consider the Maxlite as the best lightweight luggage set that’s highly durable and offers excellent quality overall.

Best Luggage Sets: COOLIFE 2-piece luggage

The COOLIFE 2-piece luggage is a great choice for tech-savvy travelers who want to protect their laptops while on the go.

The carry-on suitcase has a special pocket on the front that can fit a 13″ laptop, tablet, documents, and other small items like a mouse or external hard drive. This pocket will help you stay organized and keeps your things easily accessible, especially during security checks at the airport.

The small carry-on suitcase is 21 x 14 x 9.5 inches in size. It’s a little bit larger than the standard limit of 22 x 14 x 9, but people have said that they’ve used it successfully even on international trips. And because of its sleek design and practical features, I think it’s also a good choice for business travelers.

The bigger 28″ suitcase, on the other hand, has a big 93L capacity, which can even be expanded to 110L. That gives you plenty of space for clothes, shoes, souvenirs, and any shopping finds you might have.

What we also like

Both suitcases in this set are made of a tough ABS/Polycarbonate blend, which means they are stronger than bags made of just ABS material. And I really like the beautiful minimalist design of these suitcases. They look just as good as the fancy, expensive brands out there!

What we don’t like

The issue with the carry-on is that when the front pocket is full, it takes up space from the main compartment. This means you have less room to pack your things compared to a bag without that extra pocket. As such, this would affect how much you can fit in your carry-on, especially if you’re traveling carry-on only.

Best luggage sets (3-piece set)

In this review, I’ll be talking about 3-piece luggage sets that typically include a carry-on bag, a medium-sized suitcase, and a piece of a large checked bag.

Away Luggage 3-piece

Best Luggage Sets: Away Luggage 3-piece

If you’ve ever gone luggage shopping in recent years, you’ve likely heard of Away’s trendy hardside carry-on suitcases. Apart from their minimalist and Instagram-ready appearance, there’s no denying the quality, and even the hype surrounding these bags. The extra strong polycarbonate hard shell makes them durable so much so that reviewers claim they’ll last you for a long time.

One such reviewer is Kit Dillon from Wirecutter, who expressed their satisfaction with Away luggage in a review. Dillon said “I’ve tested the Away Carry-On for seven years now and have also lent the bag to several friends and frequent travelers to see how they would enjoy using it. The minimalism of the Away bag stands out among the other hard-sided suitcases we tested.”

The suitcases also have some other great features, such as spinner wheels, a TSA-approved lock, interior compression straps, and a hidden laundry bag for separating dirty clothes. I mean, it’s just hard not to love this durable luggage set!

What we also like

One thing I like about these amazing luggage sets is that you can personalize them to match your style.

You can add monograms and even include an ejectable lithium-ion battery that can charge your devices while you’re on the move. You also have the option to choose a set of two or three pieces and select the colors you prefer. Isn’t that great? You can choose a single color for a uniform look or pick different colors to suit your taste, your partner’s, or even a kid’s. This way, everyone will be happy with their luggage.

What we don’t like

I need to talk about the cost factor. Away suitcases are not cheap. They are quite the investment, especially if you’re buying a set. For example, you can get a Samsonite Omni PC 3-piece set for around $270, which is lesser than the price of a single checked suitcase from Away. This indicates that there are several more affordable options available in the market.

Samsonite Omni PC 3-Piece Luggage Set

Best Luggage Sets: Samsonite Omni PC 3-Piece Luggage Set

The Samsonite Omni Pc is an amazing luggage set that has won over 20,000 people on Amazon. More than 18,000 of them gave it a perfect 5-star rating, which shows that it’s definitely worth buying.

The reviews indicate that if you travel a lot and need luggage that can handle rough treatment from baggage handlers and different weather conditions, this set is dependable.

All three suitcases are made of polycarbonate, which is the best material for hard-sided suitcases. They also come with useful features like a TSA-approved lock, a telescopic handle, and 360° rotating wheels for easy movement, whether you’re at the airport or heading back home.

One reviewer who has owned the Samsonite trio for 5 years shared that they are their go-to suitcases because of their functionality. The only signs of wear and tear they experienced were a few cosmetic scrapes from luggage handling, which I should note is expected with hardside luggage.

What we also like

I think the Samsonite Omni PC is a good deal because you get a 20″ carry-on, a 24″ suitcase, and a 28″ larger checked quality suitcase, all for under $300. In comparison, other competitors, like Away luggage, can easily cost twice as much.

What we don’t like

Although the Samsonite Omni PC has received mostly positive reviews, there is an important drawback mentioned by customers regarding the wheels. According to some reviews, the wheels tend to break easily, with reports of breakage occurring as early as the first or second trips.

A review from CNN Underscored Staff explained that this issue is likely due to the wheels being single spinners instead of double spinner wheels. “The wheels are also single, rather than double, spinners, which are slightly less sturdy and more prone to getting caught in cracks in the sidewalk”.

American Tourister Pop Max 3-Piece Luggage Set

Best Luggage sets: American Tourister Pop Max 3-Piece luggage Set
Credit: Amazon

Prefer soft luggage sets? The American Tourister 3-piece option comes highly recommended by thousands of Amazon customers, and of course, yours truly.

This spinner luggage set includes a 21″ suitcase, which meets most US and overseas airlines’ carry-on size requirements, along with a medium 25″ and a large 29″ suitcase.

If you like to have a place for each and everything, this is your luggage. Each suitcase has many interior pockets, like ones for your shoes, mesh pockets, and even modesty pockets for your accessories and toiletries. And here’s a bonus: this expandable luggage set can expand up to 2 inches, which is handy for the trip home if you went on a shopping spree.

What we also like

The brand offers a 10-year warranty for these best luggage sets. While it’s not as generous as some other brands that provide a lifetime warranty, having a 10-year warranty is still a good level of protection and assurance for your purchase.

What we don’t like

Unlike the other best luggage sets on this list, I should note that none of the bags in this set come with TSA combination locks. Additionally, the wheel handle is not adjustable in height, so it may not be ideal for taller individuals.

Kenneth Cole Reaction Renegade 3-Piece Luggage Set

Best Luggage sets: Kenneth Cole Reaction Renegade 3-Piece Luggage Set
Credit: Amazon

If you’re looking for a versatile luggage set that can expand to hold more items, then this is one of the best choices out there. A popular choice both on Amazon and Kenneth Cole, the Reaction set offers a 20-inch bag (fits most airline carry-on requirements) along with 24” and 28” suitcases.

Inside the roomy interior compartments, you’ll find multiple pockets, including elastic shoe pockets and a garment restraint panel, so you won’t have to deal with tangled clothes! And if you need extra space, each piece can expand an additional 2 inches—perfect for those long vacations abroad.

What we also like

Each one of these suitcases has eight spinner wheels and a telescoping handle that make it easy to maneuver. And the set is made from ABS materials with rounded corner guards which will protect against bumps or shock when traveling – even if handled robustly in airports or jostled around trunks during car rides alike.

What we don’t like

Similar to the Amazon hardside luggage, the Regenade cases lack built-in locks for added security. Since the larger 28″ luggage piece is often checked during travel, it would have been helpful if a TSA lock was included to enhance the protection of your belongings.

Rockland Melbourne 3-piece set

Best luggage sets: Rockland Melbourne 3-piece set
Credit: amazon

I know a good deal when I see one, and, I can tell you that this three-piece luggage set is an absolute steal! Rockland is offering a carry-on, a mid-sized suitcase, and a large suitcase, all for a mere $130.

Even when sold individually, each piece in this set has received rave reviews from Amazon users. People love how affordable they are and how well they perform on both long trips and quick getaways.

Travelers are especially delighted with the 20″ suitcase, as it perfectly fits in the overhead compartments of major airlines like United, American, Delta, Southwest, and Allegiant. No more worrying about size restrictions or having to check in your luggage.

Now, let’s talk about the material. This set is made of ABS material, which is not as tough as the more expensive polycarbonate luggage. But it has its advantages! ABS is lightweight, so it’s easy to handle, while still providing good protection for your stuff.

Other handy features include side and top handles for easy lifting, as well as sturdy handles and 360-degree sturdy wheels that roll smoothly.

What we also like

If you’re like me and tend to overpack, you’ll love that the luggage can be expanded for when you need extra space.

You’ll also find compression straps to keep your belongings secure, an interior mesh zip pocket for easy organization, and even an elasticated pocket to hold smaller items in place. With these thoughtful additions, you can keep everything well-organized throughout your journey.

What we don’t like

If you’re a frequent traveler who needs something very sturdy that can endure many years of abuse, I’m afraid this affordable luggage set is may not meet your needs.

Silvia, a reviewer at Heart My Backpack, who has experience using the three-piece set, shares a similar opinion. She mentions that “these suitcases definitely won’t be as long-lasting as luggage that costs several hundred dollars.” While it’s true that they may not match the quality of high-end luggage brands, in terms of budget-friendly options, Silvia believes these pieces are surprisingly durable.

Best luggage sets (4-piece set or more)

Instead of just suitcases, these top-rated luggage sets offer a variety of bags and include options ranging from a few bags to as many as eight in a single package!

Travelers Club Kids’ 5 Piece Luggage Set

Best Luggage sets: Travelers Club Kids' 5 Piece Luggage Set
Credit: Amazon

This set has everything your child needs for stylish and comfortable travel. It includes a hardsided carry-on suitcase, a backpack, a lunch bag, a neck pillow, and a luggage tag, all featuring a matching kid-friendly print.

Now, let’s take a closer look at each item. The cabin-sized suitcase comes with spinner wheels, so your little one can effortlessly roll it through the airport like a pro. The backpack is there to carry those extra items that won’t fit in the carry-on. And don’t forget the insulated lunch box, so you can pack snacks or sandwiches for the plane ride.

The neck pillow gives comfort during long plane rides or car trips. And the luggage ensures that your child’s belongings will always find their way back to you.

What we also like

Even when your child is not traveling, they can still make use of each item separately for trips to daycare, school lunches, and sleepovers. Another big selling point is that Travelers Club Set is incredibly affordable. All priced under $100, this is one of the best luggage set that’s an absolute steal!

What we don’t like

According to reviews, it appears that the suitcase is too small to be really useful. Some customers have complained that they were unable to fit all of their child’s belongings into the suitcase – even with careful packing. I should also point out that the designs are more suited for younger kids, so there’s a possibility that your child may outgrow the luggage in a few years.

COOLIFE 4-Piece Family Luggage Set

Best luggage sets: COOLIFE 4-Piece Family Luggage Set

Here is another best luggage sets that offer excellent value for money. Not only is this set highly rated on Amazon, but it’s also incredibly affordable.

In terms of durability, the bags are made of sturdy ABS hard-shell plastic with reinforced corners for extra protection, which is a nice touch. Considering this, I believe these suitcases are durable enough for people who travel or go on vacations only a few times per year, rather than those who plan on using their luggage frequently.

Alexios Georgakopoulos, a seasoned traveler from Clever Journey, agrees with me and suggests that if you fly moderately, you can expect Coolife’s luggage to last 3-5 years, which is quite impressive for an affordable suitcase.

Alexios analyzed that “If you’re planning on flying moderately (less than five times per year), then you can expect Coolife’s luggage to last at least 3-5 years, which is pretty good for an affordable suitcase. Most suitcases from other similar brands tend to last for less than 15 trips.”

Furthermore, this luggage set is packed with practical features. Each bag has multidirectional wheels, TSA locks, a multi-stage wheel handle, and convenient top and side grab handles, making it easy to lift and maneuver the suitcases.

What we also like

You have the option to choose from two sets: a 3-piece set or a 4-piece set. However, my personal favorite is the 4-piece family set, which includes a 16″ (30L), 20″ (38L), 24″ (60L), and 28″ (93L) suitcase.

The reason I prefer this set is that, when combined, they provide ample packing space for anything or anyone you might be traveling with, whether it’s for extended trips or family vacations with kids.

I also appreciate that all four pieces can nest inside each other, allowing for easy storage and minimizing the space they occupy when not in use.

What we don’t like

As I mentioned earlier, the materials used to make this inexpensive luggage are not the best quality. Some reviews have pointed out problems like damaged handles, bad zippers, or dents on the exterior.

So while it can last for a year or maybe even longer, it’s not designed to withstand frequent use or last as long as more expensive and sturdier options like Rimowa suitcases.

Travelers Club Sky+ 5-Piece Luggage Set

Best Luggage sets: Travelers Club Sky+ Luggage Set
Credit: Amazon

Who doesn’t love having options? The Traveler’s Club Sky 5-piece luggage set gives you a lot to work with – a 28″ large checked suitcase, a 24″ medium suitcase, a 20″ carry-on, a tote bag, and a toiletry bag. What’s even better is that you can use them individually or as a set. That’s what I call value for money!

These bags are designed for easy handling. The suitcases have spinner wheels, so they roll smoothly even when you have a lot packed inside. The tote bag has a handy back strap that can attach to luggage trolleys.   And just like the other best luggage sets on this list, these bags can be stacked inside each other, making storage super convenient.

What we also like

Buying five bags together may cost a little more, but at under $200, it’s still a cheaper option compared to most luggage sets. Plus, the fact that it has received over 15,000 5-star ratings out of more than 21,000 reviews on Amazon shows that reviewers believe this set is worth the dough. And don’t forget – there are many color options to match any style or wardrobe preference imaginable.

What we don’t like

One drawback I want to highlight about this set is the absence of locks on any of the suitcases. Luggage Buyer Guide, in their review of the Travelers Club Sky Luggage Set, mentioned that even though this set isn’t expensive, it’s also not considered cheap. They expected to see useful “features like an integrated lock, but unfortunately, it is missing.”

Travel Select Amsterdam Expandable 8-Piece luggage

Best Luggage sets: Travel Select Amsterdam Expandable 8 Piece luggage
Credit: Amazon

If capacity is your top priority, I highly recommend this 8-Piece luggage set from Travel Select. It includes three suitcases, a compact tote bag, and four great packing cubes for staying organized and fitting more into your luggage. It truly is the best luggage set for traveling with a big group or for an extended period.

And if that didn’t sweeten the deal enough for you, these softside bags have plenty of internal and external pockets, making it super easy to keep your stuff organized. Oh, all the suitcases in this set are expandable – you can increase their capacity when you need to fit more items.

What we also like

The bags have add-a-bag straps that are super handy. You can attach multiple bags together using these straps, which is super useful when you’re traveling with more than one bag. This way, you can easily move them all with just one wheel handle, instead of needing an extra hand to carry all your bags. It’s a really convenient feature, don’t you think?

What we don’t like

These bags are not very sturdy. Some people have experienced broken handles, and there have been complaints about exterior stitching and tears in the fabric inside the bags after regular use. Because of these concerns, I wouldn’t recommend this luggage set for people who travel often.

Buyer’s Guide: How to choose the best luggage sets

Best Luggage sets: Horizn luggage set

If you’re searching for the best luggage sets for family trips or to save money, there are a few factors you should think about. Considering these factors will help you make a smart choice that suits your specific travel needs.

Material / Durability

The best luggage sets should be able to handle lots of use and last a long time. It’s only logical to want to invest in bags that you know will last.

The materials used in your luggage depend on the quality and how sturdy it is. Most hardside luggage is made of either ABS or polycarbonate plastics. Polycarbonate suitcases are a bit more expensive, but they’re stronger, more durable, and more flexible. ABS plastics are cheaper, but they may not be as durable as polycarbonate.

For soft-sided bags, the common materials used are polyester and nylon but if you’re planning on using your bag regularly, I recommend you opt for something a bit more robust like ballistic nylon or Cordura nylon

When choosing the best luggage sets, think about the pros and cons of each material. Consider if you’re okay with a heavier bag for better durability.

When choosing the best luggage sets, size matters. Airlines have weight and size restrictions, especially for carry-on bags.

For carry-on bags, the total dimensions should be less than 45 inches, with individual items measuring no more than 22 x 14 x 9 inches (even smaller for international flights).

I should note that checked luggage also has size limits set by airlines. Don’t just buy the biggest case and hope for the best. Oversized luggage might cost you extra fees or have restrictions on certain flights. Remember, most domestic airlines allow checked bags with a total linear dimension of 62 inches. Bags larger than that may be subject to additional fees.

All in all, each airline has its own measurements and weight allowances, so always check their website, and make sure you stay within the accepted limits. You don’t want to end up with bags that are difficult to travel with or can’t be used as often as you’d like.

Warranty and return policy

When looking for the best luggage sets, it’s always good to check for any return option or trial period so that if the purchase is not what is expected then there will be some form of refund available.

Another important thing to consider in the best luggage sets is the warranty. A warranty provides added assurance for the product you are buying. It also means that if anything goes wrong, some years down the line (or upon first use), your purchase is covered by a functioning guarantee from the manufacturer or retailer alike!

What are the benefits of luggage sets?

Buying a luggage set is more economical than buying the pieces separately. Also, you’ll always have options for what kind of bag you need, whether it’s checked or carry-on!

Sometimes we need just one small case; other times our adventures call for extra suitcases or travel bags. Having a sturdy luggage set in the house means you won’t have to worry during future trips because you have more options available at all times.

Is it better to get a hard or soft luggage set?

Hard or softside luggage set, none is better than the other. It just depends on your personal preference or what works best for you.

Hardside luggage is the way to go if you need your items protected, but don’t care about weight or space. They are more water resistant, durable, and can’t be ripped open as easily.

A soft-sided luggage set is a great option if you need lightweight pieces that can flex and compress. These types of bags will always have space for overpacking, and they take up less room when packed away.

How should you care for your luggage set?

The best way to keep your luggage in tip-top shape is by following these easy tips:

When packing, don’t overdo it with bulky clothing or anything else that could cause damage during travel; remember you get only one chance at an amazing impression so take care when selecting what goes into each piece.

Cleaning your luggage is an easy way to make sure you have a clean vacation. A few minutes of cleaning before and after traveling will keep the exterior looking pristine for years! For hardside luggage, use disinfectant wipes or damp cloths. Fabric suitcases can be cleaned with a brush and laundry detergent if necessary (just spot-test first).

Also, you want to consider the storage of your luggage sets when not in use. Make sure there’s enough space wherever you want to store your travel bags. It won’t do to cramp them or throw them where water or dust would disturb them.

The good thing is that most of the best luggage sets on this list come with features such as nesting, which means smaller pieces will fit inside larger ones so they take less room in your house or apartment.

Remember, if you take good care of your luggage sets, they’ll serve you better and longer.

Bottom Line

Best Luggage sets: July luggage set

  1. Very informative article! I genuinely learned so much about luggage sets and the many types of luggage sets out there. I loved many of the luggage set mentioned on your list – they were so beautiful and stylish but when you consider the durability, material and safety I do have to agree with you the Away Luggage 3 sets is the winner. I also like its ejectable battery to charge my phone when travelling – how cool is that! However, I also agree that the price my not be for everyone but you have provided on your list plenty of alternatives. It is just a shame that when I clicked the link to check them out on Amazon, most of them are unavailable at the moment.

    Thank you

    • Hi there! Thanks for your comment.

Yes, the Away luggage set is very well made and the ejectable phone battery charger is definitely a major selling point because let’s face it, a dead phone battery is never fun when you are on the go. True, the price is on the high side, but I guess in this case, you get what you pay for and there are other alternatives on the list that are price friendly.

The luggage options that are not currently available on Amazon can be gotten on the manufacturer’s site. You can check them out there.
      Thanks for stopping by again.

  2. Thank you for your extensive research on this topic. When I was looking to buy a new suitcase I looked for durability first. I don’t travel much, but when I do I want dependability, that’s why any luggage that is well made would be my choice. I also want something that is easy to use, which is why I went for the four roller wheel model. Since I am an older single woman I want something lightweight as well. If I were to buy a new suitcase, I’d probably go with the Amazon 2 piece set.

    • Hey Barbara, I agree with you, durability, lightweight, and comfort are very important features to look out for in a luggage. Great choice there, the AmazonBasics 2-piece set has the above features and more.
      Thanks for stopping by.

  3. That budget suitcase, the Rockland luggage certainly looks a lot more expensive than its true price. They did a really good design with that product, and it looks especially cool with the two-tone blue color.

Thanks for the tip about safety-approved locks, I had no idea that was a thing that could happen!

My personal opinion is that if you are traveling on a plane, you should always go with a hard-cased suitcase when you are not home, you want the best protection possible!

Based on your buying guide, I think I will go with the Away Travel Suitcase as it is even cheaper than the Samsonite. I would like to ask though, do you think the upgrade to the Aluminum addition is worth it?

    • Hey David,

The Rockland luggage is a great deal, so much so that many buyers on Amazon are a fan too. Like you, I like hard-cased suitcases too because of the durability and protection it offers, just that the soft-sided suitcases tend to more flexible for when you need that extra storage.

The Away Travel set, The Aluminum Edition is definitely worth it only if you want a super durable luggage that you can trust to survive series of travels and years of use. It is however much more expensive, but the its durability is undeniable and there’s a warranty on it also, should anything happen. I hope I have answered your question.

  4. Hey Fami, thanks a lot for your in-depth review of best luggages for 2022. As frequent traveller, I especially appreciate it. Also, as recently I bought luggage from amazon that cost $50, but was literally broken after first journey with plane. It is really sad, that nowadays this is considered as thrown away of money purchase and man has to pay much more. Anyway, I think the Amazon Basic set looks still affordable and good quality. Is is directly from Amazon? You said lock is missing, but i guess I can buy external one, right?

    • Hey Julius,

I’m sorry to hear about your experience with the cheap luggage that’s equally cheap in quality. It’s sad really that these very affordable bags are just money down the drain after one or two uses, but that doesn’t mean that all affordable bags are of poor quality. The AmazonBasics luggage set like you mentioned is affordable and is of good quality, and lots of buyers have testified to this.

And in regards to your second question, yes, the AmazonBasics is directly from Amazon and you can get external locks for it.
I’m glad you like this review.
