Summary: The Backpacker is a thoughtfully designed 2-in-1 system bag that is practical, comfortable, and built to last.
The Backpacker by Salkan is a two-bag system consisting of a travel pack and a daypack in one package.
The Daypack easily attaches to the Mainpack, giving you extra storage for long-term travel but is also easily removable for when you want a smaller standalone bag for day trips.
I like the versatility the Salkan pack offers.
The daypack alone has a 20 liters capacity that is big enough to fit everyday essentials while the main pack alone comes in at 45 liters which can hold days’ worth of supplies for longer trips.
Both the main pack and daypack have a laptop compartment that can hold a 15-inch laptop. Even if you move around with just one laptop, the daypack is a handy place to hide away important documents.
In addition, there are several handy pockets, including two water bottle pockets, expandable side pockets, a zippered quick-access pocket, and a hidden security pocket for stashing away your valuables.
Durable and water-resistant, the backpack is made of 900D COTNA Polyester and YKK zippers. And in heavier downpours, you can use the included rain cover for added water resistance.
You won’t have to worry about comfort either.
The back panel is very well padded, as are the shoulder straps. If it does get too heavy, the removable sternum strap and hip belt are a nice touch.
Also, you can totally adjust the backpack to fit whichever height is appropriate for your body type.
What we also love
The Salkan backpack with detachable daypack is features packed!
It comes with tons of thoughtful features – like a rain cover, laundry sling, a hidden security pocket, adjustable back system, and compression straps.
And even though the bag is only available in one color (grey), you can customize the design to your taste. There is the option to change the accent coloring of the straps for the two packs.
What’s not great
The bag has so many features that may take a while to get used to.
Best for men: Osprey Farpoint 55
Summary: The Osprey FarPoint is a go-to for many men for obvious reasons.
The Osprey Farpoint backpack makes the list of backpacks with detachable daypack thanks to its trusted high-quality and sturdy build that makes it a go-to for so many people.
To start, it features two sections; a front-loading main backpack and a detachable daypack that zips onto the back.
The best bit?
The daypack can be either zipped onto the back of the main bag, or clipped kangaroo-style onto the harness straps on your front!
Options, huh?
I really like how spacious it is – can handle loads up to 50 pounds!
The main pack capacity comes in at 42 liters while the detachable daypack has a 13 liters capacity.
And amazingly, they are both lights.
In fact, tons of users have gushed about how it can comfortably carry all your possessions for many years.
Even better, it features a pared-down internal frame that means that this bag– which can be used as a carry-on for most airlines.
What’s more?
The Farpoint 55 also has pretty much every feature you could want on a backpack with detachable daypack designed for hiking and traveling.
It has an ergonomically shaped hip belt with an adjustable chest strap and load-lifter straps for carrying comfort, a lockable opening, useful pockets, and compression straps to secure your belongings.

It’s also an adjustable-length backpack with a ventilated mesh back panel that helps keep your shirt dry in hot or humid conditions.

There’s also a scratch-proof compartment in both the main pack and daypack that serve to hold and protect your smaller tech devices and glasses.
What’s not great
It may find it hard to get onto my back when it’s full.
Best for women: Osprey Fairview 55L Backpack
Summary: The Fairview backpack provides comfort, style, and space for all your backpacking needs.
The Osprey Fairview backpack is specially designed for women and is sized for smaller torsos. Its clever design, comfort, and features make it a great contender on the list for backpacks with detachable daypack.
A high-quality pack with glowing reviews, it stands out for its 13L detachable day pack. With the backpack, you get 55 liters of storage capacity, which is great for taking on long day trips where you’ll need all your travel essentials.
The daypack has a padded 15″ laptop compartment.
There are also compartments of various sizes, and internal compression straps that let you bunch up and tighten anything inside in the main pack
Thanks to its clever zip design, you can completely pull the front of the bag down for easy access to your belongings.
Plus, you’ll appreciate how comfortable it is.
There are wide shoulder straps, a hip belt, and a mesh harness that ensures your back doesn’t turn into pools of sweat.

Speaking of safety measures, I appreciate how secure the detachable daypack is when it’s zipped onto the main pack. There’s a hidden strap that doubly locks it into place for extra peace of mind.
Also, I like the lockable zippers, which can be tucked out of sight underneath the zip casing to deter opportunist thieves.
And just like the FarPoint, the Fairview comes in two different color options and other sizes, so you can always go for best suits you best.
What’s not great
The only thing that I’m not too keen on with the Osprey Fairview is that it can be quite tricky to maneuver onto your own back once it’s fully packed.

Summary: The Caribee Sky Master II pack is designed to accompany you wherever and however you go, on wheels.
If you’re looking for a way to carry a lot of heavy gear while avoiding back pain, the Sky Master II is the bag for you.

This wheeled backpack features a smaller daypack that can be worn with the main bag, or on its own for days out or shorter trips. The total capacity of the backpack is 70 liters, while the daypack itself is 16 liters.
Mind, you can choose to carry the daypack attached at the back of the backpack or in front of you for balance and easy access to your valuables.
A feature I really like in this backpack with detachable daypack is that it has a laundry compartment so you can keep your dirty and clean clothing separate.
And you will still have plenty of space for other items, since the backpack has multiple pockets, slots, and compression straps, including a separate shoe pocket.
What we also love
It is easy to roll around, due to the terrain-friendly wheels and telescopic handle which can be stowed away at the top of the bag.
Not forgetting that you can also carry this backpack on your back if it’s not loaded out.
All in all, a worthy addition to the list of best backpacks with detachable daypack.

Picking the right backpacks with detachable daypack is easy once you know the features you need to look out for!
Functional daypack
If you want a backpack with detachable daypack, then it is very important that the daypack is good enough to be used exclusively as a daypack.

When you’re choosing a bag, consider what you will be using the bag for.
Will you be traveling with the bag?
Make sure to choose one that is properly sized to fit on an airplane, or at least is travel-friendly.
Do you plan to do some rock climbing? Choose a bag that prioritizes weight distribution so that you will not risk losing your balance while moving around rocky areas with your bag.
Capacity
Another thing that you will want to pay attention to in backpacks with detachable daypack is the capacity of the bag.
The whole point of backpacks with detachable daypack is so you can comfortably carry your hiking items and daily essentials in one carry.
Depending on what you need, there are different sizes to choose from.
Organizational features
It helps to have adequate compartments, pockets, and other organizational features in backpacks with detachable daypack.
Features such as webbed loops, which allow you to clip on carabiner clips, or place for hiking poles, come in handy. If you want to go on longer hikes, it is a good idea to check if the backpack has space for a hydration pack.
Padding and support
Padding is important since you’ll be hauling two bags around— a backpack with an attached daypack.
Look for features like padded, adjustable straps, padded back panel, and mesh material with chest and sternum straps.
Backpacks with detachable daypack that have these features are much more comfortable to log about.
Ventilation
Another feature to take into consideration in backpacks with detachable daypack is breathability.
You won’t prefer to haul around a backpack during the hot summer while your back is dripping with sweat. You can simply avoid this problem by buying a fully ventilated back panel.
Compression straps
Compression straps tighten a pack from front to back and pull the load close to your body, helping to keep you balanced on the trail.
These straps are also useful for storing taller items (such as tent poles) along the side of backpacks with detachable daypack.
Weather protection
The good news is that most backpacks with detachable daypack offer decent water resistance with durable water repellant (DWR) coating. Although most are not waterproof, you can trust them to hold up in a light shower.

1 thought on “10 Best Backpacks with Detachable Daypack for EDC, Travel & Hiking”
I like the Osprey Farpoint backpack because you can clip the day pack to your front. This is a huge advantage when hiking for days on end.
The fact that it is also carry-on ‘luggage friendly’ is awesome. If I can save having to wait for an hour for my bags, I’ll do it. The less time spent in airports, the better.
My girlfriend had an Osprey pack years ago and the zip malfunctioned. And since the pack has a lifetime warranty, she sent it back, and instead of replacing the zip, they gave her a brand new latest model pack…. Talk about great customer care!
Thanks for doing the research and coming up with great options.
