This innovative bag features a wireless charging pocket, giving you hands-free phone charges anywhere thanks to the special charging pocket. This means you can charge your phone by simply placing it on top of the bag, without having to bother with scrambling for cables.

However, you need to buy a power bank for it to work, and you can get a Wireless Power Bank specifically made by HEX which has been proven reliable when used alongside this backpack.

For more weatherproof protection, it also comes with a rainfly to keep your tech safe in case of inclement weather or just protect valuable tech gear from scratches during transport on public transportation platforms like subways where people tend not to be gentle when they bump into each other.

Backpacks with charger: HEX Technical Backpack
Credit: hexbrand.com

What we also love

Its 17.5L capacity means this small bag won’t be a burden while having the space for your crucial essentials.

But what is impressive is all the pockets- there’s even a 16” faux fur laptop sleeve as well as a phone storage space inside its cozy fleece-lined pocket.

What’s not great

Aside from the fact that this backpack is expensive, you still have to shell a few more dollars to buy a wireless power bank to enjoy the wireless charging pocket.

And at 17.5L, the bag is small, especially if you tend to pack a lot of stuff, and the laptop compartment won’t be useful for those who have big or gaming laptops.

Buyer’s Guide: How to choose the best backpacks with charger in 2022

Backpacks with charger:

When looking for best backpacks with charger in 2022, here are some important factors you need to consider before making a final decision.

Power Source

Backpacks with charger have a power source that allows you to charge your phone while out for an adventure.

Look into getting the backpack with the option that works for you so that way there won’t be any worries about running low on juice during emergencies!

Backpacks with charger either feature a USB charging port, cable pass-through ports, or an integrated charging system, which could be solar-powered, wireless, or a portable power adapter you can plug into a power source.

You must know that most backpacks with charger that come with USB ports and cable pass-through ports require you to purchase an extra power bank separately.

These backpacks do not come with a power bank as part of the package. All they feature is a special compartment on the inside where you can store the power bank while your phone charges on the outside, connected via the USB port.

Aside from power banks, some backpacks with charger are powered by solar or require you to plug into electricity.

While these types of backpacks are great for work or college, they are not the best options for extended outdoor adventures like hiking, or camping.

If you are going for electricity-powered backpacks with charger, just ensure that your daily routine does not include going on long hikes where there’s no access to electricity? The battery-powered backpacks will die before they can even make it halfway through their trip!

Backpacks with charger: solar backpack

Purpose

Backpacks with charger can be used for different purposes, from school to work and even hiking.

When you’re choosing a bag, consider what you will be using the bag for and if such a bag will satisfy your personal requirements.

For instance, if you will be traveling with the bag, make sure to choose a bag like the Yorepek Travel backpack which is travel friendly and with features like a luggage sleeve and a spacious capacity to fit a few days’ clothes and travel items.

Comfort

Comfort is key, especially for a bag that you’ll wear every day.

To avoid discomfort especially when worn for a long time, backpacks with charger should have padded shoulder straps and even a breathable back panel.

Equally important are padded back panels, and mesh material with chest and sternum straps, especially for big bags with lots of items inside them.

Backpacks with charger with these features are much more comfortable to log about with and ensure your bag doesn’t weigh you down when loaded up.

Pockets & compartment

It’s also important to think about the size as well as the different pockets and compartments in backpacks with charger before you buy it.

Once you’ve considered the items that will mostly be in your bag, think about which compartments are best for each item and if the bag you’re going for has them.

For instance, if you tend to go about with a lot of your tech like your laptop, tablet, phone, power bank, sunglasses, mouse, Bluetooth speaker, several chargers, and other accessories, you are better off with a backpack with separated or fleeced lined pockets for these items, rather than having to dump everything in the main compartment.

These pockets also ensure that your devices don’t get scratched or damaged due to contact with other items like a water bottle or keys.

Plus, these pockets also make you have easy access to any of these items.

Style & Design

Backpacks with charger just like aesthetic packs come in different colors, designs, and styles.

And as such, it makes sense that the one you go for should seamlessly blend with your overall look no matter what you’re wearing, while meeting your taste in terms of color, shape, look, and design.

Backpacks with charger: The Ridge Commuter Backpack

Material & weather protection

The best backpacks with charger are made with durable materials that’ll be able to protect your expensive devices and withstand the demands of constant use.

One of the best ways to determine the quality of a backpack is to look at the materials that it’s made from.

For example, the cordura ballistic nylon material used in the Hex Technical Backpack is a very durable fabric originally developed for military body armor. So, when you see this material mentioned in a backpack material, you know you are getting quality material.

It is also very important to go for backpacks with charger that are water-resistant or at the very least, come with a waterproof rain cover, so your devices do not get damaged when caught in the rain.

Besides the tough fabrics, you also have to pay attention to bags with durable zippers like YKK zippers; bags that have reinforced stitching, especially in high-stress areas like the seam, shoulder straps, and bottom of the bag.

Extra Features

In your search for the best backpacks with charger, features such as a padded laptop sleeveeasy access pockets, a key fob, water bottle pockets, and tuck away shoulder straps design straps can make your life easier.

And if it’s a bag you may need to travel with some time, consider looking for important features like water-resistant zippers, TSA-friendly lockable zippers and laptop compartment, clamshell opening style, hidden pockets, expandable zippers, and more.

Also, you may prefer sustainably made bags, or backpacks specifically designed with waterproof protection in mind.

As with any backpack, ensure you look for features that best suits your need.

Can backpacks charge your phone?

Well, yes, but it all depends on what kind of charger the backpack comes with.

Some backpacks have built-in wireless charging pockets that’ll quickly reenergize any device placed inside them while other chargers must be plugged into an external outlet, portable power adapter, or power bank for their devices to receive electricity from these types of inputs.

For example, the Hex Technical Backpack features an innovative wireless charging pocket, giving you hands-free phone charges anywhere you go.

  1. Hi Femi, I never realised there are so many hi-tech backpacks available. Being able to travel and power up your gadgets on the go is wonderful and huge time saver. My favourite is the Kroser laptop backpack for women. I like the stylish design and built in USB port. Also it’s quite roomy with plenty of space for all my small items.

I also like the Tzowla antitheft business backpack. This would be ideal for long trips when passing through airports. In addition, the trolley strap is perfect for attaching the bag to your main luggage. Thanks for sharing:)

  2. Hi Femi,
Thank you for such an informative article. The 15 best rated backpacks with chargers is a very helpful article. It will save me the time consuming task of comparing backpacks. Now, I can just return to your page and make my decision. So I will be back.
I also like the fact that you have also included the bad features as well as the good. Sometimes reviews are totally biased toward a favored product and they don’t tell us about the bad points. For instance, you did tell everyone that most of the backpacks need to be plugged in or have a solar charger. And most don’t have a power bank included, which must be purchased separately.
Thank you. I have bookmarked your site.

    • Hey Chas,

I’m glad to know that you find this review helpful. This is why I do what I do, to help people make an informed decision and get the best bag they’ll like for a long time to come.
And you are absolutely right, I always include both the good and bad features of what users have said concerning these bags so that those interested in these backpacks and luggage would have the needed information they need.

      Thank you for your comment.
      Cheers,
      Femi.

  3. Hi Femi,

You did a great job collecting 15 sharp-designed backpacks with chargers. I think people will love the list and consider your recommendation because I often have this charging issue too.

I love The Ridge Commuter Backpack since it’s waterproof and sleek. Although it doesn’t have a good back panel, I would still consider purchasing this for my best friend’s birthday.

    Thanks for sharing.

  4. Wow it is great to see such an article which will be able to give you me help since I travel a lot.
I always run out of power on my travels and this will be a great reference for me to be honest.
I like the The Solgaard Lifepack the most because it uses solar which is very cool. But it would be good for places in tropical landscapes not really for places in Europe generally.

  5. I like the idea of having a solar-powered backpack. However, it does mean that the sun needs to be out and that we need to be out in the sun for longer periods of time. And to be honest, I have a difficult time seeing my screens when it’s bright outside….. So maybe not the best option…..

I’m fortunate that my laptop and phone batteries last for many hours. Usually enough to get me through the day. However, there has been the odd time when external power wasn’t available and I really needed it.
I think my next bag will be including the means to recharge my devices.

    Thanks for sharing.
